I recently had the chance to chat with Rachelle Legrand on WILX Studio 10 about my art process, new work, and current exhibition at Nelson Gallery. Watch the interview and join me at the opening reception for the show on Thursday, March 20th to hear more about my process and inspiration!
I’m thrilled to announce my first solo gallery exhibition at Nelson Gallery in downtown Lansing, MI. The show runs March 1st - April 26th and features 47 original Scrapscapes, including new sizes!
About the series:
Like a field guide to previously undiscovered corners of the universe, Steph Joy Hogan's “Scrapscapes" series features mixed-media snapshots of imaginary worlds and the whimsical flora and fauna that inhabit them. Each piece shares a unique story, brought to life in layers of acrylic paint, ink, and found paper ephemera (including maps, book pages, and other discarded print material) with the intention of fueling your imagination. Steph's art practice is inspired by the unbridled imaginations of children, with space exploration as a common theme, representing both hope and a longing for connection.
You’re invited to join us for a casual reception on Thursday, March 20th 5:30 - 7pm. RSVP & invite friends here.
I am thrilled to now be able to announce that I've been selected for the Arts Council of Greater Lansing's 2023 "Art in the Sky" Billboard Project!
Honored to be showcased among these amazing regional artists: Julian Van Dyke, Laura Gajewski, Elyse Gambino, James Hays, and Dennis Preston. They are all so talented and inspiring!
Each artist will be featured on digital billboards throughout the region for two months (beginning with Elyse Gambino who you should be able to see now!) and for a two week period in January you will be able to see all 6 billboards rotating throughout the area.
My billboard will be visible during June and July and will feature my mixed-media painting, 'The Invitation', which was inspired by Fenner Nature Center!
Thank you so much to the Arts Council and Adams Outdoor for making this happen. It's such a cool project and incredible opportunity.
You can purchase your limited edition print of The Invitation here.
Delighted to be featured in Arts News, the monthly newsletter of the Arts Council of Greater Lansing! From the newsletter:
art is connection
Steph Hogan is a long-time artist member, cheerleader and spokesperson of the Arts Council who consistently goes above and beyond for our organization. She is extremely active in the arts in our community, and as a member, she has received Arts Council billboards and grants, has exhibited at our office and is a regular participant in our Arts Night Out event.
i am lansing
In 2020, she created her "I Am Lansing" painting in an all-day live session as part of our virtual Creative Placemaking Summit. The work was also created to help raise funds for the Arts Council with a portion of the sales being donated to help support our work. This piece is a great representation of not only Lansing but of Steph's passion for the region she lives in and her belief that Lansing's creativity is what makes it shine.
creative and supportive
We are so grateful to Steph for her commitment to the creative community and her unwavering support of the Arts Council, and we are pleased as punch to feature her as our donor highlight this month. Read the full interview with Steph and get her perspective here.
I’m so proud to share that I am this week’s cover artist for the Lansing City Pulse! My mixed-media painting, ‘I am Lansing’ graces this weeks paper and it’s so amazing to see it in person!
I’m also exited for the artwork to get some additional visibility, because as you likely know, a portion of the proceeds from this Limited Edition Print go directly to the Arts Council of Greater Lansing in support of their mission to support, strengthen and promote arts, culture and creativity in the Capital Region and transform communities and lives through the power of creative expression.
I’m thrilled to announce that my community has voted me Top of the Town in the Artist category during the 2021 Lansing City Pulse Top of the Town Contest. There is such an enormous and talented creative community in the Greater Lansing Area and I am so proud to be an active member.

The Arts Council of Greater Lansing recently interviewed the lovely, Kate Snyder of Piper & Gold Public Relations about the firm’s experiences with local Arts Night Out events. So delighted to be mentioned!
Kate has been one of my number one cheerleaders since day one of my career as an artist. In fact, she and Piper & Gold gave me my day one! Today is the 4 year anniversary of my first Arts Night Out with them, and my first event publicly showing up as an artist and selling my work. Seems like a lifetime ago!
